⚠️Safety & Preparation
-
Safety Warning: Discharge your iPhone battery below 25% before starting. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire or explode if accidentally punctured during repair.
-
Power Off: Ensure the device is completely powered down.
-
Protect the Glass: If your screen is cracked, cover it entirely with clear packing tape. This prevents glass shards from escaping and maintains the structural integrity of the display while you use a suction cup.
Phase 1: Opening the Device
Step 1: Remove Pentalobe Screws

- Remove the two 6.7 mm Pentalobe screws located on either side of the Lightning charging port.
Step 2: Heat the Edge

- Use an heat gun or hair dryer to heat the bottom edge of the iPhone. This softens the adhesive holding the display in place. This softens the waterproof adhesive securing the display.
Step 3: Opening the Phone

1. Suction: Attach a suction cup to the lower half of the screen.

2. Pry: Pull up on the suction cup to create a slight gap between the screen and the rear case. Insert an opening pick.
3. Cut the Adhesive: Slide the pick along the left, right, and bottom edges.
· Caution: Do not insert the pick more than 2-3 mm into the device to avoid damaging internal ribbon cables.
Top Edge: The top is held by clips and adhesive. Gently pull the display assembly slightly down (away from the top edge) to disengage the clips.
Step 4: Open it Like a Book

1. Swing Right: The display cables are on the right side. Open the screen from the left to the right, like opening a book.
2. Support: Prop the screen up against a steady object so it stays vertical. Do not let it hang, as this will strain or tear the delicate cables.
Phase 2: Disconnecting Components
Step 5: Remove Logic Board Cable Bracket

1. Remove the five screws securing the display cable bracket.
2. Lift and remove the metal bracket.
Step 6: Remove Battery Connector Cover

1. Unscrew the three Y000 screws securing the battery connector bracket.
2. Remove the metal bracket.
Step 7: Disconnect the Battery

1. Use a spudger to pry the battery connector up from its socket. Always do this before disconnecting other cables to protect the logic board.

2. Disconnect Screen Cables:
-
- Disconnect the display cable and the touch (digitizer) cable.
- Disconnect the front sensor assembly connector.
3. Remove the Screen: The display assembly is now fully separated.
Phase 3: Transferring the Earpiece & Sensor Assembly
Step 8: Remove Sensor Screws:

On the back of the old screen, remove the Phillips and Y000 screws.
Step 9: Flip the Earpiece:

Flip the speaker down to reveal the sensors.
Step 10: Heat and Separate Sensors:

Heat the front of the screen.
Carefully pry the ambient light sensor and proximity sensor out.
Step 11: Remove Entire Assembly:

Lift the complete cable assembly for the new screen.
Phase 4: Reassembly & Finishing
-
Install Sensors: Place the original assembly into the new screen and tighten the screws.
-
Clean & Apply Adhesive: Remove old residue and apply new waterproof adhesive tape.
-
Connect Cables: Snap the display and touch connectors in, then the front sensor. Connect the battery last.
-
Test: Power on to check display, touch, and Face ID before sealing.
-
Secure & Seal: Reinstall brackets, align the top edge of the screen, and press down the sides until flush.
-
Bottom Screws: Reinstall the two Pentalobe screws.
